From 2013 to 2015, I worked as an on-call medical interpreter and medical scribe (both J to E and E to J) at the University of Michigan Health System.
I also translated physicians' PowerPoints and medical journals. Currently, I'm pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
• Interpreted doctor-patient communications between English and Japanese including check-in, checkout, and physical examinations in various departments (OB/GYN, Birth Center, Adult and Pediatric ER, Surgery, Inpatient and outpatient clinic).
• Evaluated team efficiency and consolidated teamwork by working as a liaison between the interpreter department and healthcare team.
• Succeeded in improving doctor-patient communication by promoting cultural awareness by counseling healthcare providers and patients.
