I have been working as a freelance translator since 2013. During these years I have specialized in historical and tour-guide translations. I’ve worked on translations for the Buckingham Palace, Royal Mews, Warwick Castle, exhibitions at Queen’s Gallery, etc. I am currently working as a Portuguese Instructor at the University of Surrey, Examiner in the Portuguese Language at Manchester University and Linguist at Appen.
Coming from a Portuguese family and having contact with both European Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese have enabled to teach and write both varieties and also to focus on their main differences. I am also a fluent speaker and teacher of Italian, which enables me to take assignments in Italian as well.
Additionally, I have more than one year of experience as an interpreter for the NHS. This job gave me the skills and fast thinking necessary to provide the parts involved in the consultation the best translation at that moment. This experience helped me to improve my speed and language skills as a translator.
Finally, I have received an MSc in Developmental Linguistics from the University of Edinburgh, and a PhD in Linguistics from The University of Sheffield. Both theses focused on English and Portuguese monolingual and bilingual language acquisition.
